The utilitarian outlook states that the greatest good must be done for the greatest number. This concept can very much be applied to the Just War Theory. A utilitarian always believes that the end, whatever it may be, justifies the means. A country can go into war if the intention is the greatest good for the greatest number. This is a sufficient cause for going into a war. The act is more important than the rule. The concept of jus ad bello is applied just to confirm that there will be less of evil produced from the war. This is the basic core of the utilitarian approach. Utilitarian will agree to the just war theory and say that it is necessary to make the world a better place.
